Ingredients: 3 cans of great northern beans drained and rinsed; 2 stalks of celery diced; 1 large apple cored and diced; 1 sweet onion peeled and sliced thin; 2 cloves garlic minced; 1 tablespoon olive oil or butter; 2 teaspoons sweet paprika; 1 pinch cayenne pepper; 1 teaspoon salt; 1 cup vegetable or chicken stock; 2-3 tablespoons Ben’s Maple Sugar

Great northern beans have a delicate, nutty flavor and create a wonderful dish when combined with the sweetness of maple and apples. This is great as a side dish or a delicious vegetarian meal.

Ingredients

3 cans of great northern beans drained and rinsed
2 stalks of celery diced
1 large apple cored and diced
1 sweet onion peeled and sliced thin
2 cloves garlic minced
1 tablespoon olive oil or butter
2 teaspoons sweet paprika
1 pinch cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup vegetable or chicken stock
2-3 tablespoons Ben’s Maple Sugar

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
Add the olive oil or butter to a skillet and over medium heat sauté the celery, onion, and apple until they begin to soften.
Add in the garlic, paprika, cayenne, salt, and stir over medium heat for one minute.
Pour the stock into the skillet with the sautéed ingredients and give a stir. Scrape any stuck bits off the bottom and bring to a boil and then remove from heat.
Combine the sautéed vegetables and stock with the beans in a casserole dish. Sprinkle Ben’s Maple Sugar over top and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
